About Us

Diski Nine9 Africa is a registered non-profit company based in Soweto, South Africa (Reg no: 2015/447508/08). Diski Nine9 was formed in 2015 and our objective is to use sport, notably soccer and netball as a tool to educate and empower young Africans. “Diski” is a slang term used in South Africa to describe the biggest and most loved sport around the world – Soccer. “Nine9” is a slang term meaning Authentic or Real.

Our Vision is to identify and nurture the next generation of responsible, healthy, and empowered citizens who will contribute positively to building their communities. Our Mission is to use sports as a tool to engage, educate and empower children, youths, and their communities toward the development of a brighter future.

Quality Education

Diski Nine9 has over the years provided numerous training and academic assistance to the youth and adults within our programs. The aim is to increase the number of relevant skills, including technical and vocational skills, for employment, decent jobs, and entrepreneurship.

Decent Work and Economic Growth

Diski Nine9 prides itself in promoting development-oriented programs that upskill its members and support decent job creation and entrepreneurship in an effort to contribute toward economic growth and reduce the number of youth unemployment in South Africa.

Good Health

The health and well-being of our participants are of high importance, and as such, Diski Nine9 hosts different sports-related events to keep the youth and their caregivers away from adverse behavior and advocate for healthy lifestyles.

Gender Inequality

Diski Nine9 is in a course to fight the spread of all forms of violence against women and children through our Gender-Based Violence awareness programs.

Raymond Ledwaba
Raymond Ledwaba (CA) SA 
Chief Executive Officer

Raymond is a Chartered Accountant by profession and holds an MBA from the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business. He is the CEO of ITTHYNK Smart Solutions, a digital consulting and software development company that was awarded the 2017 South
African Small Business of the Year (Top 20). Raymond is also the co-founder and CEO of
Diski Nine9, is a not-for-profit organization that uses sport as a tool to engage, educate and empower young South Africans. Raymond has over 12 years of professional experience (locally and internationally) having worked for PwC in South Africa, Nigeria, and the United States of America. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, Raymond was the Vice President of Product Control at Barclays Africa and worked on technology and finance-related projects in Egypt, Botswana, Ghana, and Kenya. Raymond is a Mandela Washington Fellow, former President Barack Obama's flagship leadership program for young Africans. The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) named Raymond as the Top 35 chartered accountants under the age of 35. In 2015, Raymond was selected among 100 international MBA students to attend the MBA World Summit in Barcelona and was subsequently appointed as the head of the 2018 MBA World Summit which took place in Cape Town. 

Phehello Monamodi

Chief Operations Officer

Phehello Monamodi is a Co-founder and Chief Operations Officer at Diski Nine9. He is an experienced coach boasting over 20 years of coaching various soccer teams in the township and suburbs. He holds a Sports administration certificate, SAFA B License, and KNVB coaching certificate. He also holds the highly esteemed Ambassadors in sports certificates.

In the organization, he makes sure that all the programs on the ground are well executed and maintains the standards of both our organization and partners. 

Vuyisa Sobayeni
Vuyisa Sobayeni

Vuyisa is a credit risk professional with more than several years of experience in the financial industry. He has extensive corporate and investment banking experience which has allowed him to develop a deep understanding of various sectors across multiple jurisdictions. He is currently a Credit Risk Executive at one of South Africa’s major banks and holds a post-graduate qualification in financial management.

Through his experience, he has developed an analytical and innovative style for managing complex business problems. His diverse skills base and knowledge as well as his passion for youth development have encouraged him to get involved with several social projects in various capacities over the years.

Linda Motea is a qualified CA (SA) and holds a diploma in Financial Markets & Instruments. She has over 11 years of experience and she worked mostly in the financial services industry including a short-term assignment in the UK. She is currently responsible for the audits of Banks and Insurance companies.
She is passionate about education and community development and she is currently involved in various community upliftment programs including gender equality initiatives. She is a driven, hardworking and passionate individual, a mentor and a person who is always willing to lend a hand and always eager for a challenge and new experiences. 

Madoda Pitse
Madoda Pitse 
Independent Non - Executive Board Member

Madoda is a seasoned volunteer to the Diski Nine9 organization with vast knowledge of its history and experience in its operations. He comes from a commercial background in the engineering and manufacturing industry with more than a decade of experience in senior management - from project management to business development management in Sub Saharan Africa.
A qualified draughtsman with a BBA from UNISA, his contributions towards technical and commercial related aspects of the organisation have seen Diski Nine9 grow towards sustainability.

Lazola Dabula is passionate about education and community development and she is currently involved in various community upliftment programs including gender equality initiatives. She is a driven, hardworking, and passionate individual, a mentor, and a person who is always willing to lend a hand and always eager for a challenge and new experiences.

Robin Bleekers
Robin Bleekers 
Independent Non - Executive Board Member

Robin is the Head of Letsema Foundation and manages a portfolio of SMEs and NGOs that are being incubated and supported by the Letsema Foundation. He holds a BA in Psychology and Law and a Masters in Psychology from the University of the Witwatersrand and is a 2020/21 MBA Candidate with the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business. Robin is a
Bertha Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Scholar and a Member of Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund Youth Leadership Steering Committee. He is also a 2021 Africa Leaders Initiative – Young Leaders Candidate Fellow.

Robin has over 8 years of experience as a management consultant and spent 3 years as a senior counselor at the South African Depression and Anxiety Group. Robin has published 2 psychology papers titled “Miserable, Manic or Misdiagnosed? Patients as partners – brought to you by the South African Depression and Anxiety Group” in the African Journal of Psychiatry in 2013 as well as a paper in the South African Journal of Psychology titled “How do Industrial psychologists and human resource management practitioners perceive their status and job satisfaction” in 2012.

Robin has also presented at the International Congress of Psychology as well the 3rd Southern African Student’s Psychology Conference in 2012 and 2013 respectively.

Project Manager

Mmusa is a project manager at Diski Nine9. He holds a BCom in Economics and Econometrics
degree from the University of Johannesburg and he is also an Azure Microsoft Certified Professional. He has worked as a business manager and sales consultant for companies such as Rent Works and FNB where he managed the sales lifecycle and worked with various corporate customers across South Africa. At Diski Nine9, Mmusa works as a Project Manager on various Gender-Based Violence leadership programs for soccer and netball coaches.

Netball Chairperson

Nomasonto has over 10 years of experience as a netball coach and has won numerous accolades both as a coach and a netball chairperson. Nomasonto joined Diski Nine9 in 2018 as a netball assistant to her predecessor, Mbalenhle Maleka. Her current role is Chairperson for the netball league at Disk Nine9. Her role includes coordinating the netball league, managing the group of couches, and making sure that the League is running smoothly. Nomasonto holds a clerical diploma and call center certificate. Prior to being a project manager, she worked as an administration clerk at Metrofile.

David Rantho

Photographer & Head of Education

David is a founder of Mr GoonDee Publication House which was established in 2017. He is a professional photographer, videographer, and an Azure Microsoft Certified Professional. He also has over 15 years of serving communities across Soweto. David has strong leadership qualities and has assisted in developing life skills materials, and project and administration support.

Valencia Kgongoana
Gender-Based Violence Programme 

Valencia holds a Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies, and Humanities Degree from the Northern Virginia Community College (USA). She also holds a Business Administration Degree (specialty in Marketing) from Marymount University (USA). Valencia has over 10 years of experience in working with children and youths. At Diski Nine9, she heads the Gender-Based Violence Programme for soccer and Netball players and coaches.

Musa Matwalana
Project Manager - Soccer League

Musa holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (CTI Education Group) and he has been previously employed at Woolworths as a Department Coordinator. Musa has over 12 years of experience as a football coach and football administrator. At Diski Nine9, he is a Project Manager for our Soccer league.
